Why I Write My Blog

I was struggling for ideas for a post the other day and no inspiration was coming to me. I started to think about why I began writing my blog back in August 2014 in the first place.

1) Out of work. At the time I had been out of work for a month or two and was beginning to loose my mind a little. I have either worked or studied (or both simultaneously) my entire adult life and not working was really effecting me. I felt useless and needed something new to learn about and challenge me. Blogging definitely gave me that. There was so much to learn, how to get traffic to my blog, what a linky is, how to use Google+ (I've still not really mastered that one) and coming up with posts that people want to read. I only have a few followers and don't get much traffic but that doesn't bother me too much. I get so excited when someone takes the time to read a post or write a comment. I never thought anyone would want to read my daft little blog.

2) Pregnant. I was 18 weeks pregnant when I started to blog. I decided I wanted my blog to be a kind of diary of my pregnancy through to motherhood. I thought it would be a fun way to document all the things I would probably forget after having our little one. I am already enjoying looking back though old posts and laughing at stuff I had already forgotten. I am looking forward to posting about our little one and his adventures.

3) Family. I live away from my family and thought this would be an ideal way for them to keep in the loop with things. I like them to read the daft stuff I would forget to mention on the phone to them and for them to see what I'm up to.

My blog is really for me so I can relax about having blog-block sometimes and just take the pressure off. In the future I would love to work with brands and review products and events but for now I'm more than happy to keep my diary and share my experiences with my family and the few other readers that stumble across my blog.
